Los Angeles: Filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie has confirmed that the plot for Top Gun 3 is already finalized. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the 56-year-old director said the storyline "is already in the bag" and wasn't difficult to develop.
McQuarrie, known for his longtime collaboration with Tom Cruise, served as co-writer and producer of Top Gun: Maverick, the 2022 sequel to the 1986 classic directed by Tony Scott. Both films starred Cruise in the iconic role of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.
According to McQuarrie, screenwriter Ehren Kruger pitched a concept that quickly shaped the framework for the next installment. The filmmaker emphasized that the development process was surprisingly smooth, saying, "None of these are hard to crack."
His comments have sparked excitement among fans eager to see the next chapter in the high-flying franchise.
While no official release date has been announced, confirming a complete story marks a significant step forward for Top Gun 3.
